Dr. Melanie LaForce is a comedian, writer, and social psychologist.

She has performed at and trained with institutions such as The Groundlings, Upright Citizens Brigade, Second City, and Flappers.

In 2018, LaForce’s coming-of-age humor essay collection, Corn-Fed: Cul-de-sacs, Keg Stands, and Coming of Age in the Midwest, was published by Thought Catalog Press.

In addition to her debut book, LaForce has written featured essays and humor for The Washington Post, Marie Claire, McSweeney’s, and New York Magazine. She is a frequent contributor to BUST.

Dr. LaForce was a Principal Scientist at the University of Chicago for 12 years, and taught social psychology for several years at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.

Melanie is a retired skater and trainer for The Windy City Rollers roller derby league.

LaForce’s debut memoir drew attention from TV & film and received accolades from feminist magazines such as Refinery29 and BUST.

LaForce currently lives in Burbank where she performs stand-up and works on original television projects.
